What FEERS Is About

FEERS is an innovative tool integrating hardware and Software to revolutionize energy consumption by leveraging advanced data analytics and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies. FEERS provides real-time insights into energy usage patterns, enabling users to make informed decisions to reduce waste and improve efficiency.

Our mission is to make energy visible, understandable, and controllable across Africa and emerging markets, helping reduce costs, ease strain on power grids, and enable sustainable growth.

The Origin of FEERS

The idea for the FEERS system was born from the observations of Lesego Montsho during her time as a university student at the University of Botswana between year 2019 and 2023. She noticed how lights and air conditioning were routinely left on in dormitories, study halls such as the infamous “247” computer labs, lecture rooms, offices, and even government and UN buildings long after knock off time.

Why FEERS Exists

Energy waste is largely invisible. Bills arrive without explanations. Decisions are made without data.

Across Africa and emerging markets, energy inefficiency increases costs, strains power grids, and limits sustainable growth.

We conducted and published a baseline research involving Botswana's key energy stakeholders such as Department of Energy, Botswana Energy Regulatory Authority (BERA) & Botswana Power Corporation (BPC) to inform the implementation of FEERS.
